Town considers purchase of Humane Society property

Town staff are recommending buying the Humane Society’s property on Cornwall Road to possibly turn it into a road for the upcoming Midtown development.  The road plan hasn’t been finalized, but preliminary drawings suggest the majority of that property would be needed.

Wallace Park rink to open in the New Year

The Town of Oakville tells Cockadoodle News that the new outdoor skating rink in Wallace Park will open early in the new year, but they’re not releasing an exact date just yet. The rink will be chilled and convert into a basketball court in the summer. The new building beside it will have mechanicals and washrooms.

Arrest and charges after Oakville stabbing

A 15-year-old boy is charged with Assault with a Weapon and Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose after a 13-year-old boy was stabbed at Memorial Park near Sixth Line and Dundas on Saturday afternoon.  The pair knew each other and planned a fight. The victim had non-life threatening injuries and was released from hospital.
