Response to cancer concerns | Cash for Oakville housing | A top restaurant in town

Region and Town respond to online cancer cluster claims
Halton Region says “current data indicates no elevated cancer risk associated with the closed landfills in Halton.” The statement comes following online discussion and speculation about a potential cancer cluster in the Joshua Creek area linked to former dump sites. The Region also states: “Cancer mortality rates in Joshua Creek are below those of Halton Region and Ontario,” and the town is telling residents to “approach online claims with caution.”
Premier brings money to Oakville
Premier Doug Ford spoke about his economic plans for the province at a Chamber of Commerce event on Monday. He gave the Town $7.1-million to help fund infrastructure projects for housing and community development.
Lock up
Police say they’re noticing an increase in break-ins of Oakville homes that back onto green space and trail systems. The thefts tend to peak between 6-9pm, and are usually targeting cash, jewelry and luxury goods. Sometimes the thieves even use ladders to get in through the second floor. They’ve got a list of safety suggestions on their website.
