āStay tunedā for a possible provincial election
Looks like it could come any time now. Premier Doug Ford said āStay tunedā when asked Wednesday at Queenās Park if an election call is coming. Reports say Ford will call an election as early as next week. A new Leger poll shows the Conservatives would easily win if an election were held today (46% support), with the party 24 points ahead of Bonnie Crombieās Liberals (22% support), and the NDP sitting at 19% support.
Whoās in: Retaliate dollar-for-dollar?
āTeam Canadaā met again to figure out how to respond to the threat of tariffs on February 1st, and according to The Canadian Press leaders are āleaning toward matching tariffs on the U.S. ā but not all premiers agree.ā As usual, Doug Ford is all in. Albertaās Premier Danielle Smith says things are āmore positive this weekā and thereās āgeneral agreement on the need to focus more on constructive, proactive diplomacy with U.S. lawmakers rather than escalating rhetoric.ā Theyāve got a little more than a week left to figure this out.
Work from home, if you still have a job: Poilievre
Pierre Poilievre says he wants to cut the federal public service, which has swelled by 110,000 employees under the Liberal government. The Conservative leader believes the increase in staff levels hasnāt improved service for Canadians. Heās also not fussed if those who will remain want to work from home, he told Radio-Canada: āThe place of work is not important to me; itās about the result. I believe there needs to be proof that the work is done.ā

Oakvilleās population hit 238,716 last year according to StatsCan, which is a 2.7% increase from the year before, and a 9% increase from 2020.
Call to show up for townās Midtown declaration
We Love Oakville and the Trafalgar Chartwell Residents Association is calling on Oakville residents to attend the January 27th town council meeting to show their support for a motion by two local councillors clearly stating that the town does not āendorse or approveā the provinceās Transit Oriented Community (TOC) plan for Midtown.

Eggs are high in protein which might keep you feeling fuller for longer, theyāre also low in calories, and relatively cheap and easy to make. Oatmeal is high in iron, fibre, folate, and Vitamin A. The conclusion is they can both help with weight loss, but for muscle gain eggs are a better protein choice.
Bird flu vaccine stockpiles
Wired.com reports that the U.S. is sitting on a stockpile of millions of H5N1 vaccines but isnāt deploying them because the risk of the disease is too low. There have been 67 U.S. human bird flu cases, and none of them are linked to human-to-human transmission. Experts say if it comes to it, a more targeted tactic might be to roll out vaccines just to farm workers and others at risk, but that still seems premature.
