OAKVILLE’S MORNING NEWS SCRAMBLE
Midtown Rally for Doug Ford
Members of We Love Oakville are planning a rally to “welcome” Premier Doug Ford to a lunchtime Chamber of Commerce event at the Oakville Conference Centre. The purpose of the rally is to tell the Premier that Oakville residents are paying attention to plans for Midtown and aren’t happy with “Infrastructure Ontario’s intervention”. More information can be found here.
Fireside with Ford
The Premier is in town for a keynote speech and fireside chat hosted by the Oakville, Milton and Halton Hills Chambers.
“Personally insulting”
The Halton Catholic District School Board has voted 4-3 to ask the provincial Ministry of Education for a “financial and management audit” of its operations. One trustee who supported the request says the board is the “lowest funded” in the province, and he hopes it might leave the board in a better funding position. Another trustee who opposed asking for the audit got emotional, saying “do we not think that our Halton Catholic District School Board has not been trying to figure this out? They’ve been working their butts off to try to figure this out.” She also said it was “personally insulting”.
