Home invasion arrest
A 23-year-old from Oshweken was arrested after a violent home invasion early Saturday morning on Greeneagle Drive. Three people forced open the front door of a house demanding car keys and assaulted a resident. One of the suspects had a handgun. Police chased after one suspect and caught him. Two others got away. Pool closure
The Iroquois Ridge Pool is going to close for 6-months of renos starting in January.
5 things in the townâs draft budget
As mentioned in yesterdayâs edition, the mayor will provide the Townâs proposed budget on Thursday after wrapping up public input last month. Hereâs just a couple of the capital projects Town staff included in the original draft:
$14.9 million for new parks, parkettes and trails, and to rehabilitate existing parks
$27.5 million for bus replacement, expansion and major refurbishments of existing buses
$12.5 million for Fire Station 4 renovation and expansion
$7.1 million for replacement of ice rink âAâ at River Oaks Community Centre, and rehabilitation of Falgarwood outdoor pool
$4.3 million for Towne Square rehabilitation
Metrolinx Boss resigns
The head of the agency that runs GO Transit and the much criticized Eglinton Crosstown LRT has resigned. Phil Verster has taken a new job, and will be temporarily replaced by the CEO of Infrastructure Ontario.
