Police are looking for three suspects after a cell phone store in Oakville Place was robbed. They threatened staff and ran off with phones and tablets.

407 takedown

Two women are charged after a high speed pursuit ended on the 407 near Trafalgar this past weekend. Police had to use a “tire deflation device” to stop the pair.

The CAA says 43% of Ontario drivers have admitted to speeding and 83% of Ontario drivers have witnessed other drivers speeding. 

Oakville is an exception

Homebuilding activity across Ontario has lagged behind other provinces for the last 6 years.  Between January and October of this year 13,000 fewer homes were started in Ontario compared to the same period last year.  Oakville, Pickering, and Kitchener are the exception though.  Those 3 communities had housing starts per capita in the top 20 across Canada.

Prepaid funeral funny business

There have been a few recent cases in Canada of prepaid funeral funds being mishandled. But did you know that in Ontario, families are 100% protected by the Bereavement Authority of Ontario, which covers contracts in case something goes wrong.

“False discounts”

A class action suit has been filed in Canada against Gap and Old Navy that alleges that the stores “rarely, if ever, offer to sell their products at the represented regular price and instead always, or almost always, offer these products at the so-called discount price.”  The retailer says it doesn’t “comment on pending litigation.”

The province is launching a new $32-million program to provide mental health support to police officers, correctional workers, paramedics and fire fighters.  It’s also creating a strategy to help deal with any stigma about asking for help.
