The Mayor of Oakville put forward a proposed total tax increase of 4.84% at a special council meeting last night. That number includes the region’s portion of the property tax bill and comes after input from residents. The town says the number is above inflation, but it managed to keep increases below inflation for the last two years. It also says the increase is less than what neighbouring municipalities are proposing.

A rise in food recalls? Not exactly.
